welcome to my art blog

Here are some photographs I took on my trip to Zhangjiajie, Hunan in China this summer. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

Here’s the progression of the Art Nouveau-inspired 2013 Battle of the Bands poster I made for Yale WYBC Radio.

The event will take place April 16, and is on Facebook. It’s going to be super duper, so all of you (so like the two people that read this blog) should go join!

This is gorgeous.

Yale Battle of the Bands is a chance for student bands to compete for the honor of opening for Spring Fling (a day of live music by some of the most exciting musicians performing today).

I accidentally deleted this, so here it is again! Thanks Yale for the shoutout :)

I just finished up a fantastic externship at NBC Universal, in the marketing department for the Style Network. I got some great insight on the industry, got to tag along with a commercial shoot, and I assisted in designing some marketing material for Style! I’d say it was a pretty productive use of my spring break. However, all good things come to an end. One week simply wasn’t long enough - crossing my fingers that I’ll cross paths with Style again in the future.

I won’t be missing that LA traffic though… That was one of the more unpleasant things I’ve had the joy of experiencing (up there with that time I went hiking in a spider-infested forest and that time stepped on a snail barefoot)

Here’s some studies I’ve been working in for my painting class. They’re based off some photos I took in Nara, Japan a few years ago. Acrylic in Bristol board.

Airport security at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia broke my Nikon d5000 DSLR camera. Very sad.

Edit: It’s been fixed! All is good.

Here’s a picture I took from the top of the Jinmao Tower in Shanghai. That’s 88 floors!

Two photos of Shanghai I took in the summer of 2010. Can’t wait!

Officially going to Shanghai this summer

Landed an awesome internship opportunity, so excited!

I can’t wait to explore the city! From suburbia to small urban town to big metropolis… this year has been - and will be - incredible. I don’t think I’ve been on a plane this many times in this a year before. I be racking up the frequent flyer miles

I also just emailed LF stores about a possible remote career/internship/somethinganything with them. Maybe graphic design or communications related, who knows. I love their style, it’s like NastyGal meets homeless/junkie chic.

Only three more finals to go! Crunchtime.

A work-in-progress shot of the t-shirt design I did for Ezra Stiles’ Freshman Olympics.

Sorry for the lack of updates… I’ve been quite lazy busy for the past couple months!
So, well, I’ve illustrated a few covers for the Yale Herald this past semester. Here’s an in-progress shot of one of them for an issue called “Bound to close” about a local bookstore that closed last year (before I got to know it, unfortunately ). I made graphics staff for the Herald this semester and I can’t wait to continue in the spring. I’m actually waiting on news of a possible promotion to associate design editor for the Yale Herald! How exciting!
Also happy holidays all! I’m going to be pretty bored these next couple of weeks so maybe expect some art from me? Maybe. I promise nothing…
